Nel 2007 Amy Winehouse ha eseguito questa cover in stile reggae/jazz per l’edizione deluxe del pluripremiato album “Back to Black”

“You Sexy Thing” è  un brano registrato dal gruppo inglese Hot Chocolate. Raggiunse il N°2 della classifica britannica nel 1975 e la terza posizione in quella americana l’anno seguente. La canzone ha continuato ad avere notorietà nel tempo essendo stata scelta per le colonne sonore di molti film, tra cui “The Full Monty” nel 1997. I gallesi Stereophonics hanno eseguito questa cover per l’album “Radio 1: Established 1967”, una compilation di cover registrate per BBC Radio 1 da 40 artisti

“Roving Gambler” è il primo brano in scaletta di “Foreverly”, un album nato dalla collaborazione tra Billie Joe Armstrong, cantante e chitarrista dei Green Day, e la cantautrice jazz/pop Norah Jones. Il disco è uscito il 25 novembre del 2013. Foreverly è una raccolta di canzoni tradizionali e popolari, ed è la reinterpretazione dell’album degli Everly Brothers del 1958 “Songs Our Daddy Taught Us”. Tra gli altri anche Bob Dylan ha inciso il brano come lato B del singolo “Love Sick” nel 1997

It was released on November 25, 2013. Foreverly is a collection of traditional songs, and is a reinterpretation of the 1958 album “Songs Our Daddy Taught Us” by The Everly Brothers. Among others, Bob Dylan recorded the song as B-side of the single “Love Sick” in 1997

Nick Cave distribuì il singolo “Here Comes the Sun/Let It Be” nel 2002. “Let It Be” aveva fatto parte in precedenza della colonna sonora del film “I Am Sam”, mentre “Here Comes The Sun” era stata inclusa nell’edizione limitata per l’Europa della medesima colonna sonora.

I Gene sono stati una band inglese alternative rock salita alla ribalta a metà degli anni 1990. Formatisi nel 1993, sono stati comunemente etichettati come una band Britpop e spesso hanno richiamato paragoni con gli Smiths.  I Gene hanno reinterpretato questo brano inserendolo nella compilation di rarità e b-sides “To see the lights” nel 1999

“The Crane Wife” è un album dei The Decemberists, uscito nel 2006. E’ il primo album della band per l’etichetta Capitol Records. L’album è stato ispirato da un racconto popolare giapponese. “The Crane Wife 3” è stata reinterpretata da Marianne Faithfull nel suo album “Easy Come, Easy Go”. Il brano è stato cantato dal vivo al Late Show di David Letterman il 31 marzo 2009 e in seguito al Later Live, presentato da Jools Holland,  il 14 aprile 2009, sul canale televisivo britannico BBC2. “The Crane Wife 3” è entrata nella colonna sonora dell’episodio dei Scrubs, “My Friend with Money”

Misirlou è in origine una composizione greca in stile rebetiko influenzata dalla musica mediorientale. La prima registrazione conosciuta della canzone è quella del musicista di rebetiko Tetos Demetriades nel 1927. Il brano ha avuto nel tempo popolarità mondiale grazie alla versione americana in stile surf rock di Dick Dale, che è stato l’artefice della diffusione della canzone nella cultura occidentale. Molte versioni ne sono state registrate incluse quella dei Beach Boys e del cantautore italiano Vinicio Capossela

Misirlou is originally a Greek rebetiko composition influenced by Middle Eastern music. The earliest known recording of the song was by the rebetiko musician Tetos Demetriades in 1927. The song eventually gained worldwide popularity through Dick Dale’s 1962 American surf rock version, which was responsible for popularizing the song in Western popular culture. Various versions have since been recorded including those of The Beach Boys and the italian folksinger Vinicio Capossela

Questa cover fa parte della colonna sonora di “Perdutoamor”, film del 2003 diretto dal cantautore Franco Battiato, al debutto nella regia cinematografica all’età di 58 anni. Il brano originale rappresenta il terzo 45 giri di Lucio Battisti ed è datato 1968. Venne iscritto dalla Ricordi a “Un disco per l’estate 1968” con scarsa fortuna. Riuscirà invece ad aggiudicarsi l’edizione di quell’anno della rassegna canora “Festivalbar”, nella sezione ‘Discoverde’. Maggior successo ebbe la canzone sul retro del disco, “Balla Linda”, da cui iniziò la straordinaria carriera di Battisti
