Ella Marija Lani Yelich – O’Connor (nata il 7 novembre 1996), conosciuta con il nome d’arte di Lorde, è una cantautrice neozelandese. Nel 2013 ha inciso l’album di debutto in studio, “Pure Heroine”. Il disco raggiunse la vetta della classifica in Australia e Nuova Zelanda e la posizione N.3 negli Stati Uniti. Questa versione del singolo dei Tears for Fears, prodotto da Michael A.Levine e Lucas Cantor, ha fatto parte della colonna sonora del film “Hunger Games: La ragazza di fuoco”

The record peaked atop the charts of Australia and New Zealand and charted at number three on the US Billboard 200. This cover version of the Tears for Fears’ single,  produced by Michael A. Levine and Lucas Cantor, was included on “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” film soundtrack.

“Imagine” viene spesso citato come uno dei brani più belli della storia della musica. Fu pubblicato prima sull’album omonimo e successivamente come singolo negli Stati Uniti (11 ottobre 1971) assieme a” It’s So Hard”. Successivamente nel 1975 il brano fu ripubblicato come singolo nel Regno Unito (il lato B in questo caso era “Working Class Hero”). Il testo viene solitamente considerato pacifista, ma Lennon affermò che il brano era principalmente “anti-religioso, anti-nazionalista, anti-convenzionale e anti-capitalista, e viene accettato solo perché è coperto di zucchero”. Yoko Ono disse che il messaggio di Imagine poteva essere sintetizzato dichiarando che “siamo tutti un solo mondo, un solo paese, un solo popolo”.

“Imagine” is often cited as one of the best songs of music history. It was first published on the album of the same name and later as a single in the US (October 11, 1971) along with “It’s So Hard”. Later (in 1975), the song was re-released as a single in the United Kingdom (the B side in this case was “Working Class Hero”). The text is usually considered pacifist, but Lennon said that the song was mainly “anti-religious, anti-nationalist, anti-conventional and anti-capitalist, and is accepted only because it is sugarcoated”. Yoko Ono said that the message of Imagine could be summarized by stating that “we are all one world, one country, one people.”

Electronic was an alternative dance supergroup formed by New Order singer and guitarist Bernard Sumner and ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. They co-wrote the majority of their output between 1989 and 1998, collaborating with Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, of the Pet Shop Boys , on three tracks in their early years (including “Getting Away With It), and former Kraftwerk member Karl Bartos on nine songs in 1995.

“Love is blindness” è un brano degli U2. E’ la dodicesima ed ultima traccia dell’album del 1991 “Achtung Baby”. La canzone fu scritta al piano dal cantante Bono durante le session per la registrazione dell’album del 1988  “Rattle and Hum”. Concepita inizialmente per la cantante Nina Simone, fu scelta dalla band per Acthung Baby dopo averla suonata insieme. Questa cover è contenuta nell’album-tributo del 2011 “AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered”, ed appartiene anche alla colonna sonora del film “Il grande Gatsby” di Baz Luhrmann

The song was written on a piano by lead singer Bono during the recording sessions for U2’s 1988 album “Rattle and Hum”. Intended for singer Nina Simone, the band elected to keep it for Acthung Baby after playing it together.  This cover by Jack White appears on the 2011 tribute album “AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered”, and is also featured on the album “The Great Gatsby: Music from Baz Luhrmann’s Film”

“Any Way You Want It” è un brano dei “The Dave Clark Five” tratto dall’album “Coast to Coast” (1964). Raggiunse le posizioni N.25 e N.14 rispettivamente nelle classifiche inglesi e americane. La canzone è stata ripresa dai Kiss e inserita tra i brani da studio del loro secondo album live, “Alive II” (1977). Il brano è stato interpretato anche dai Ramones in duetto con Eddie Vedder dei Pearl Jam, e potete vedere la performance su questo blog. Questa versione può essere trovata sull’ultimo album live della band “We’re Outta Here!” (1997) mentre la versione da studio compare come bonus track su “Greatest Hits Live”. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers hanno incluso una cover del brano sul terzo disco del loro box set celebrativo “The Live Antology” (2009)

“Any Way You Want It” is a single by The Dave Clark Five from the US album Coast to Coast (1964). It reached number #25 in the UK and #14 in the US. Brano live tratto dal festival del 2012 all’isola di Wight. “Rain” è una canzone incisa nel giugno 1966 come B-side di “Paperback Writer”. Entrambi i brani sono stati registrati durante le session per l’album Revolver ma nessuna delle due compare in quel disco. Rain è stata inserita successivamente nelle compilation “Hey Jude” negli USA e “Rarities” nel regno unito. Ha fatto parte anche del CD “Past Masters”
