“Any Way You Want It” è un brano dei “The Dave Clark Five” tratto dall’album “Coast to Coast” (1964). Raggiunse le posizioni N.25 e N.14 rispettivamente nelle classifiche inglesi e americane. La canzone è stata ripresa dai Kiss e inserita tra i brani da studio del loro secondo album live, “Alive II” (1977). Il brano è stato interpretato anche dai Ramones in duetto con Eddie Vedder dei Pearl Jam, e potete vedere la performance su questo blog. Questa versione può essere trovata sull’ultimo album live della band “We’re Outta Here!” (1997) mentre la versione da studio compare come bonus track su “Greatest Hits Live”. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers hanno incluso una cover del brano sul terzo disco del loro box set celebrativo “The Live Antology” (2009)

“Any Way You Want It” is a single by The Dave Clark Five from the US album Coast to Coast (1964). It reached number #25 in the UK and #14 in the US. The song was covered by Kiss on the studio side of their second live album, “Alive II”  (1977). It was also performed by the Ramones  featuring Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam as a guest vocalist, and you can see the performance on this blog . This version can be found on the band’s last live album “We’re Outta Here!” (1997), while the studio version appears as a bonus track on “Greatest Hits Live” (1996). Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers included a cover of the song on their career-spanning box set, “The Live Anthology” (2009), appearing on Disc 3 of 4.

Questa canzone è stata utilizzata in uno spot TV per il film del 2008 “Il curioso caso di Benjamin Button”. Questa cover appartiene a “Scratch My Back”, l’ottavo album in studio del musicista inglese Peter Gabriel. E’ uscito a febbraio del 2010. Brano live tratto dal festival del 2012 all’isola di Wight. “Rain” è una canzone incisa nel giugno 1966 come B-side di “Paperback Writer”. Entrambi i brani sono stati registrati durante le session per l’album Revolver ma nessuna delle due compare in quel disco. Rain è stata inserita successivamente nelle compilation “Hey Jude” negli USA e “Rarities” nel regno unito. Ha fatto parte anche del CD “Past Masters”

“I Say a Little Prayer” è un brano scritto da Burt Bacharach e Hal David per Dionne Warwick che raggiunse il quarto posto nella classifica della Billboard relativa ai singoli pop nel dicembre 1987. La canzone ritornò nella top ten nell’autunno del 1968 grazie alla versione di Aretha Franklin contenuta nell’album “Aretha Now”. Nel febbraio 1987 la rivista musicale inglese “New Musical Express” pubblicò la classifica dei 150 brani migliori di tutti i tempi inserendo la versione della Franklin di I Say a Little Prayer alla posizione N.1

“I Say a Little Prayer” is a song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David for Dionne Warwick, originally peaking at number four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart in December 1967. The song also returned to the Pop & R&B Top Ten in the fall of 1968 via a recording by Aretha Franklin taken from her 1968 “Aretha Now” album.  In February 1987 UK music weekly “New Musical Express” published its critics’ top 150 singles of all time, with Franklin’s “I Say a Little Prayer” ranked at No. 1

Farrés scrisse la musica e il testo originale in spagnolo per il brano che divenne un successo nel 1947. Il testo in inglese è stato scritto da Joe Davis e non è la traduzione di quello spagnolo. Questa versione dei Cake compare nel film “Dream for an insomniac” del 1996

Sixto Diaz Rodriguez (conosciuto anche come Rodriguez o Jesus Rodriguez: nato il 10 luglio 1942) è un musicista folk americano di Detroit. La sua carriera si rivelò inizialmente di breve durata, con due album poco venduti ad inizio anni settanta e due tour australiani. A sua insaputa, però, il suo lavoro ebbe enorme successo e influenza in Sud Africa, facendolo diventare più famoso di Elvis Presley, sebbene si credesse erroneamente che si fosse suicidato. Negli anni 90 alcuni fan sudafricani si misero sulle sue tracce e lo contattarono, permettendogli un’ insperata rinascita della sua carriera musicale. La loro storia è descritta nel documentario vincitore dell’Oscar del 2012, Searching for Sugar Man, che ha aiutato a dare a Rodriguez una meritata notorietà anche negli Stati Uniti

Sixto Diaz Rodriguez (also known just as Rodríguez or as Jesús Rodríguez; born July 10, 1942) is an American folk musician based in Detroit, Michigan. His career initially proved short lived, with two little-sold albums in the early 1970s and two Australian concert tours. Unbeknownst to him, however, his work became extremely successful and influential in South Africa, making him more famous than Elvis Presley, although he was mistakenly rumored in that country to have committed suicide.
In the 1990s, determined South African fans managed to seek out and contact him, which led to an unexpected revival of his musical career. Their story is told in the 2012 Academy Award–winning documentary film, Searching for Sugar Man, which has also helped give Rodriguez a deserved fame in his native country.
