Perfect Day è uno dei brani di maggior successo di Lou Reed e fu pubblicato per la prima volta nell’album “Transformer” del 1972 prodotto da David Bowie. Nel 1997 la canzone fu scelta dalla BBC per un singolo in favore dell’UNICEF che fu trasmesso alla radio e nei cinema e che comprendeva Lou Reed stesso e altri artisti maggiori che cantavano il brano spartendosi le strofe del testo. Parteciparono all’incisione, tra gli altri, Bono, Elton John, David Bowie, Suzanne Vega, Brett Anderson degli Suede, Shane MacGowan dei Pogues, Evan Dando dei Lemonheads. Il brano raggiunse la posizione N.1 della classifica britannica

Perfect Day is one of the most successful songs of Lou Reed and was published for the first time in the album “Transformer” in 1972 produced by David Bowie. In 1997, the song was chosen by the BBC for a single for UNICEF that was broadcast on the radio and in cinemas and which included Lou Reed himself and other major artists who sang the different verses of the text. Partecipated in the recording, among others, Bono, Elton John, David Bowie, Suzanne Vega, Brett Anderson of Suede, Shane MacGowan of the Pogues, Evan Dando of the Lemonheads. The song reached the first position in the UK charts

“(Don’t Go Back To) Rockville” è stato il secondo e ultimo singolo pubblicato dai REM dal loro secondo album in studio “Reckoning”. La canzone è stata scritta da Mike Mills (accreditata a Berry / Buck / Mills / Stipe) come un appello alla sua fidanzata di allora, Ingrid Schorr, a non tornare a Rockville, Maryland, dove i suoi genitori vivevano. La Schorr, che in seguito divenne un giornalista, ha reso noto il suo divertimento per le inesattezze circa la sua relazione con Mills e la genesi della canzone che spesso appaiono nei libri sulla band. I 10,000 Maniacs hanno pubblicato questa cover del brano come B-side del loro singolo del 1992 “Candy Everybody Wants”.

“(Don’t Go Back To) Rockville” was the second and final single released by R.E.M from their second studio album “Reckoning”. The song was written by Mike Mills (credited to Berry/Buck/Mills/Stipe) as a plea to his then girlfriend, Ingrid Schorr, not to return to Rockville, Maryland, where her parents lived. Schorr, who later became a journalist, has written about her amusement with the factual inaccuracies about her relationship with Mills and the background of the song that often appear in books about the band. 10000 Maniacs released this cover of the song as a B-side to their 1992 single “Candy Everybody Wants.”

Little Honda è una canzone scritta da Brian Wilson e Mike Love e fu inserita nel 1964 nell’album dei Beach Boys “All Summer Long”; fu anche inserita sul loro EP “Four By The Beach Boys”. E’ stata coverizzata dagli Hondells, la cui versione raggiunse la posizione 9 nella classifica dei singoli statunitensi, più tardi da Jan & Dean, e dagli Yo La Tengo sul loro fortunato album “I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One” (1997)

I Guns N’ Roses registrarono questa cover nel 1994; essa fu utilizzata nei titoli di coda dell’adattamento cinematografico (da parte di Neil Jordan) di “Intervista col Vampiro” di Anne Rice e fu inclusa nel Greatest Hits della band. Questa interpretazione si ricorda perché causò un incidente riguardante il nuovo chitarrista, Paul Tobias, che fu parzialmente responsabile dell’uscita dal gruppo di Slash nel 1996, cosicché rappresenta l’ultima registrazione dei G N’R nella loro formazione originaria

Guns N’ Roses recorded this cover in 1994; it was featured in the closing credits of Neil Jordan’s film adaptation of Anne Rice’s “Interview with the Vampire” and was included on their Greatest Hits album. This cover is notable for causing an incident involving incoming guitarist, Paul Tobias, that was partially responsible for guitarist Slash departing from the band in 1996, so it is the last recording of G N’R in the original line-up

Kurt Samuel Vile (nato il 3 gennaio 1980) è un musicista americano conosciuto per i suoi lavori da solista e come membro della band indie-rock “The War on Drugs”. Sia in studio che durante i live Vile è accompagnato dalla sua band di supporto, “The Violators”. Influenzato da Pavement, Springsteen, Neil Young and Tom Petty, Vile iniziò la sua carriera creando registrazioni casalinghe in bassa fedeltà a Filadelfia. Questa cover è inclusa nell’Ep “So Outta Reach”del 2011

Both in the studio and during live performances, Vile is accompanied by his backing band, “The Violators”. Influenced by Pavement, Springsteen, Neil Young and Tom Petty, Vile began his musical career creating lo-fi home recordings in Philadelphia. This cover is included in the EP “So Outta Reach” (2011)
