Chris Cornell made an special guest appearance as part of Yusuf’s (formerly known as Cat Stevens) sold out show at Hollywood Pantages Theatre in October last year. The duo launched into a delicate take of the 1970 Cat Stevens classic Wild World. Cornell passed away few days ago at the age of 52 in Detroit, in the middle of a sold out North American tour with Soundgarden.

Dentro Marilyn è una canzone degli Afterhours contenuta prima nell’album in inglese “During Christine’s Sleep” con il titolo “Inside Marilyn three times” e poi in italiano nell’album “Germi” (1995). Per Jack Savoretti la critica musicale ha creato paragoni ingombranti con Paul Simon e Bob Dylan. Ora il giovane cantautore inglese risponde con un’intensa versione di un brano non molto noto del repertorio del grande cantautore americano intitolato “Nobody ‘Cept You” che Dylan compose nel 1973 durante le session per l’album “Planet Waves”. Il brano fu però pubblicato ufficialmente solo nel 1991 all’interno della raccolta “The Bootleg Series, Vol 1-3: Rare & Unreleased 1961-1991”.
Davvero splendida la versione realizzata dal giovane Jack, che a 32 anni sta ottenendo finalmente la giusta attenzione dal pubblico. Oltre alla ruvida voce del cantante colpisce in questo video anche il delicato arrangiamento d’archi realizzato dal The Cosmopolitan Quartet.

It is played while Tuco (Eli Wallach) is frantically searching a cemetery for the grave that holds $200,000 in gold coins. Sung by Edda Dell’Orso, it stands as one of the most well known of Morricone’s themes. American heavy metal band Metallica has used “The Ecstasy of Gold” as the introductory music for its concerts since 1983;it is included on the live albums “Metallica Through the Never”, “S&M” and “Live Shit: Binge & Purge”. This instrumental metal cover by Metallica (with minimal vocals and lead guitar work by lead singer James Hetfield) appears on the 2007 Morricone tribute album “We All Love Ennio Morricone”. This metal version was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Rock Instrumental Performance and reached #21 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock charts in April of that year.

Michael “Mick” Ronson was an English guitarist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, arranger and producer. He is best known for his work with David Bowie, as one of the “Spiders from Mars”. Ronson was a busy session musician who recorded with artists as diverse as Elton John and Morrissey, as well as appearing as a sideman in touring bands with performers such as Van Morrison and Bob Dylan. Ronson co-produced Lou Reed’s album “Transformer” with Bowie, playing lead guitar and piano on the song “Perfect Day” and composing the arrangements of strings of “Perfect Day” and “Satellite of Love”.
